Monday 14 December - Brian visits

Building of the Day - The Railway Station.  Built by the Shrewsbury and Hereford Joint Railway.  It seems the top two floors were built first and the lower floor, now the main entrance, was built later.
Our friend Brian came to visit today.  It was a flying visit, three hours in each direction coming out from Market Rasen with changes at Lincoln, Nottingham and Birmingham.  It was good to see him again and he enjoyed a whirlwind tour of Shrewsbury. (Pride Hill, Mardol, Quarry Park, St. Chad's, Old Market, Grope Lane, Three Fishes, Bear Steps, St. Alkmund's, St. Mary's and The Parade)

It started to rain in the early afternoon and became progressively worse.  The River Severn is in full flood again, it is as high as we have ever seen it,

We had lunch at the Armoury and looked at many of the listed buildings in the town.

Brian's visit was all too short and he took a train back to Birmingham just before 1530.

This evening I met Charles at the Wheatsheaf on Frankwell and we had a long talk about railway level crossings in relation to the Welshpool and Llanfair Railway.
